India Unveils Rs 5 Lakh Cr 'Green Growth, Digital Access' Mission to Transform Economy

New Delhi, NCT – In a landmark move poised to redefine India's development trajectory, the Union Government today unveiled the **National Green Infrastructure & Digital Access (NGIDA) Mission**, a monumental ₹5 lakh crore initiative over the next five years.

The first, 'Green Growth Corridors,' will focus on building approximately 25,000 km of new highways and upgrading 15,000 km of existing roads to integrate green technologies such as solar-powered streetlights, electric vehicle charging stations, and dedicated lanes for non-motorised transport.

These corridors will also link major industrial hubs with renewable energy parks and logistics centres designed for minimal environmental impact.

Special economic zones along these corridors will be incentivised to adopt green manufacturing processes.

Under the 'Digital Village' initiative, the government aims to provide high-speed fibre optic broadband connectivity to all 6.5 lakh villages across India by 2029.

This includes the deployment of 5G infrastructure in rural and remote areas, establishment of common service centres (CSCs) offering digital literacy programmes, e-governance services, and telemedicine facilities.
