The `National Energy Independence Mission` will not only secure our energy future but also pave the way for a cleaner, healthier, and more prosperous India,” he stated. “With a targeted 300 GW additional solar capacity and a fortified grid, we are not just lighting up homes but also fuelling industries and empowering communities.”
Under the NEIM, approximately ₹6 lakh crore has been earmarked for solar power generation projects, including utility-scale solar parks, innovative floating solar installations, and substantial incentives for rooftop solar adoption across the country.
The `Surya Urja Samriddhi Yojana` will provide up to 40% subsidy for residential rooftop solar installations up to 3 kW and 20% for systems between 3 kW and 10 kW, along with streamlined approval processes and easy financing options through public sector banks.
Commercial and industrial establishments will also benefit from enhanced capital subsidies and tax incentives for adopting large-scale solar solutions.
An additional ₹3 lakh crore will be invested in the `Rashtriya Grid Shakti Abhiyan`, focusing on smart grid technologies, Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven grid management systems, large-scale battery storage solutions, and the development of new high-capacity transmission corridors.

Asha Sharma, Chief Economist at the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), lauded the initiative. “This massive investment will be a significant multiplier for the Indian economy.
It will attract both domestic and foreign investment, create a vast number of skilled and semi-skilled jobs across the entire value chain, and boost ancillary industries from manufacturing to services.
The reduction in our fossil fuel import bill alone will provide a substantial boost to our current account balance,” she explained.
Mr.
Vivek Kohli, CEO of CleanPower India Ltd., a leading renewable energy developer, expressed optimism from the industry perspective. “The clear roadmap and substantial financial commitment from the government provide much-needed certainty and confidence for private players.
We are geared up to deploy cutting-edge technology and expand our operations to meet these ambitious targets.
The focus on domestic manufacturing is also crucial for building a resilient supply chain and fostering indigenous innovation,” he remarked.
